Who is sponsoring this conference?

The Huntington Beach Midsingles Conference is sponsored by the Huntington Beach Single Adult Ward.

I'm from out of the area, so where again is Huntington Beach, California?

Huntington Beach known as "Surf City", is part of Orange County, centrally located in between of Los Angeles and San Diego in sunny Southern CaliforniTypically Southern California's largest LDS Singles events are held here in the OC.

What’s the age range for this conference?

The age range for the Huntington Beach Midsingles Conference are for singles ages 27-45.

For those seeking an all-age 31+ (31-101) SA Conference experience, the following week on Memorial Day Weekend, San Diego (90 minutes south of Huntington Beach) is hosting their 31+ Single Adult Conference that draws more of a 45+ crowd.

What's the difference between the the Huntington Beach Midsingles Conference in May and the Orange County Single Adult Conference in July?

Here in Orange County, we are blessed to have two conferences. This May, there's the Huntington Beach Midsingles Conference (ages 27-45) sponsored by the Huntington Beach SA Ward (this conference). Last weekend in July, there will be also the Orange County Single Adult Conference 31+ (31-101) sponsored by all 16 Orange County Stakes that includes an older crowd (but will have some separate Midsingles activities). Both conferences complement and support each other.

This HB Conference sounds amazing and I really want to go, but I really don't know anyone, and I'm a little nervous going alone, any suggestions?

First of all, you are not alone in feeling this. Many are attending the HB Conference this year for the first time. Perhaps unlike your prior experiences either at other singles activities, conferences, or horror flashbacks from your youth dances in your teens, this Huntington Beach Midsingles Conference has several smaller activities planned throughout the weekend, where everyone has an opportunity to meet people in smaller group settings.

Plus this year, to the HB Conference, we plan to have a group of "Hosts" who are also fellow singles just like you, to help introduce you to other like-minded singles during the weekend and answer any questions.

You can also coordinate carpools and rooms beforehand with other singles by joining our HB Conference Facebook Event Page.

But ultimately we all need to stretch, be proactive, and go out of our comfort zone, and within no time, you will be able to meet and mingle with singles from all over the U.S. and beyond who are attending the HB Conference.

This conference sounds great, but "I don't do well" in large groups. How am I able to meet others in smaller group settings?

Don't let the size of the HB Conference intimidate you. :) As explained in the previous question, there are several smaller group activities planned throughout the HB Conference giving plenty of opportunities for people to meet others. Plus, we have added several smaller group activities and new structured mingling activities this year, to help you break out of that clique and meet new people.

It seems this year a lot of the activities are on the beach. What exactly is offered with the conference price?

This year’s conference provides 5 meals (Catered Friday Dinner, Saturday Continental Breakfast, Catered Saturday Lunch, Catered Saturday Dinner, Sunday Box Lunch) plus refreshments after LA Temple Session on Thursday Night ; Friday Night Event at Old World Village (German Village) with live entertainment, mingling activities, Dance w/ Arrow; Amazing Speakers coming from all over the U.S.; Beach parties and optional Saturday afternoon activities; Saturday Night Event at Bolsa Chica State Beach w/ live bands and dance on the beach complete with concert stage and festival lighting… and 200 tiki torches. :) Uplifting Sunday services and speakers.

Wednesday Black-Tie Event, Saturday Afternoon activities like kayaking and paddleboards rental, Monday @ Disneyland, and parking at the beach cost extr

What is speed mingling? How it does work? Do I have to speed mingle?

This year on the Friday Night page, you are given the option to sign up for Speed Mingling during the Friday Night Event. Speed Mingling is just a low-key, no-stress way to meet new people and have face-time with singles you may not get a chance to on the dance floor or with the big crowd. Think of speed mingling as a simple ice breaker activity. NEW THIS YEAR, we have different rounds for introverts and extroverts. This year, we will be doing 2 minute rounds with 12-15 people (not the entire room) where the women once seated, stay, and then the men rotate every 2 minutes.

We have ample space between couples, so that it’s not “Scream Dating” :) We will have a list of fun get-to-know-you questions if you need a little help in the conversation. Remember to keep the topics fun and light. Please do NOT ask uncomfortable questions that's put people on the hot seat such as "What's your story?" or "How long have you been single?" or "Why are you still single?" Discussing serious or heavy topics can be saved for later after the speed mingling round. This is not an interview or an interrogation. :)

You will need to check-in at the Speed Mingling Registration Desk (next to the Speed Mingling Lounge) in order secure your spot to attend your speed mingling round. To avoid long lines, we are having two lines -- a Fastpass Line for those who registered for speed mingling online, and a Standby Line for those who didn't register for speed mingling or who are paying at the door.

Having your Speed Mingling Fastpass gives your priority seating to attend that Speed Mingling round. The sooner you register for the entire conference online, the easier you can get your Speed Mingling Fastpass.

If there is space available, any woman on the Standby Line can join the speed mingling round if they bring a guy friend with them to the round. If the speed mingling round starts and there are a few women waiting on the Standby Line and there is still space available, women in the Standby Line can join the speed mingling during the session once we get a few more men to join us, so that there was always an even M/F ratio.

With over 1,000 Midsingles attending, we anticipate all the rounds to fill up with even M/F ratios.

After each of the Speed Mingling sessions, the entire group will be escorted to the Reception Area where everyone can meet and mingle with those you didn't get a chance to speed mingle with, and that's a great opportunity to exchange any contact info at that time. With everyone having lanyards with names too, you can connect with the people you connected with on Facebook after the round.

While speed mingling is happening on Friday Night, it’s only an optional activity. Only those interested in speed mingling will be speed mingling. It’s just a fun and easy way to meet people on a different level than you would at other activities.

Is the Saturday afternoon beach party at the same place as the Saturday evening event? How far is Huntington State Beach to Bolsa Chica State Beach?

No, the afternoon beach party at the Huntington State Beach is a completely different beach than the Saturday evening event at Bolsa Chica State Beach. Separate beaches… 5 miles away. Please refer to the address and parking info on the Event Hotline for more info.

Rumors I hear in Utah (or Arizona) is that, modesty standards (on the beach) are lax at the HB Conference, and that HB Midsingles don't really adhere to church standards, and that only the "Kens" and "Barbies" attend? Is that true? I feel a little self-conscious about my physical appearance, and wondered if I could fit in at the beach, and at the conference in general. Any suggestions?

First of all, very rarely, if ever, do you see local Huntington Beach Midsingles dressing immodestly (namely wearing bikinis) at the beach. That's not how we roll. We do very much adhere to church standards here in HB, but at the same time, we don't necessarily chaperon everyone on the public beach either. :) Any people you have heard who did wear bikinis from prior conferences were usually from out-of-state. This year, we are taking steps to encourage people to dress more appropriately at the beach.

This conference is for ALL Midsingles... in all shapes, sizes, personalities, "looks", etc. With over 1,000 attending, there will be a lot of variety and personality types that you can find people who have similar sensibilities and interests as you. So, in other words, it's not just a "Ken & Barbie" show. :) You will see all types...

Unlike prior conferences, new this year, we have additional non-beach activities planned as an option (like kayaking, hiking, riding beach cruisers, etc) , giving more options to meet in smaller group settings. Whether you enjoy beach or not, definitely it's worth it for you to attend this year's Huntington Beach Midsingles Conference.

I don't live in California, so why would I go to a Midsingles Conference in Huntington Beach? Doesn't everyone that attends live in California? What's the breakdown of locations of attendees? How can I meet someone closer to where I live at the HB Conference?

Actually over half of the attendees of the Huntington Beach Midsingles Conference, don't live in CaliforniThis is a national, if not an international conference, and so we get people from Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Asia, Europe, the UK, and Canada in attendance. Roughly the breakdown of attendees is 30% Southern California; 15% Northern California, Oregon, Washington; 20% Arizona; 20% Utah and Idaho; 10% Colorado going East (Midwest, East Coast, Southeast U.S.), 5% Outside of the U.S.

So what does this mean? This means out of 1,000+ attending, you often have a better chance to meet someone closer to where you live, here in Huntington Beach, then sometimes at your own local activities. :) (perhaps a stretch, but you get the idea) ... so it's worth it for you to attend.

New this year, as one of the ways to better meet people from your area, we will provide you a personalized itinerary of different activities and meeting times to introduce yourself to Midsingles that live closer to you.

Is there a la carte registration?

There is no a la carte registration at this time.

Is there a special group discount to Disneyland on Monday, May 22?

Yes! This year at the HB Conference we are excited to have a group discount rate to Disneyland. Complete details are found on the Monday Page on the conference website.

I would like to attend the entire conference, but I can't really afford it. Any suggestions?

You can partial attend the conference to suit your budget, or proactively put aside a few bucks every paycheck for the next few months to be able to afford to attend the entire conference, or you can contact your Bishop and/or Stake President for financial assistance to help pay for the conference. At least most stakes in Orange County will support their local singles to ensure everyone (regardless of financial need) can attend this amazing conference. However, you can't just show up at the door and say "I'm in financial need".

You will need to work this out with your Bishop beforehand. Your Bishop can mail the check to the address of our Bishop, and then we can process your registration.

I’m traveling from outside of the area and not familiar with Huntington Beach. How should I get around to the different events at the conference?

Since the events are held all over Huntington Beach, it’s best to carpool, rent a car, or catch an Uber. Public transportation can be spotty.

How do I coordinate with others in sharing rides or rooms?

The easiest way to coordinate with others to share rides or rooms is to use the HB Conference event page.

Can I stay at members' houses?

Due to the size of the conference, we can't accommodate everyone in members' houses during the conference. A few members are offering their homes for the conference. With the cost of real estate much higher in Huntington Beach and Orange County than in other areas in the country, most Midsingles actually live in condos, apartments, or smaller homes and can't accommodate large groups where they live. So we encourage you to use the hotel page on the conference website, and you can coordinate with others to share rooms on the HB Conference Facebook Event Page.

What’s the refund policy for this conference?

There are no refunds being offered for the HB Conference, but you can always sell or transfer your ticket to someone else until the final week. After Monday, May 15, no transfers will be offered, so that the committee can finalize the registration list. If you need to sell your spot before May 15, most people are posting on the HB Conference Facebook Event Page. Once you sell your spot, just notify us their name (and their conference options) via email before the conference at hbmidsinglesconference@gmail.com so we can update the registration list.

How many people are expected to attend?

We expect over 1,000 Midsingles from Southern California, the West Coast, and throughout the U.S. and around the world, to attend at the Church's largest Midsingles Conference. Some venues do have a limited capacity, so it's best to register much sooner than later to secure you spot. BUT there will be plenty of smaller size activities throughout the weekend, where singles can really mix and mingle, and make new friends here at the HB Conference.

Why do I need to register now instead of just showing up at the door?

We encourage everyone to register sooner than later as some activities have a limited capacity and will sell out well before the conference. Unlike some other conferences, this conference is entirely self-funded, meaning early registration helps pay for the cost of the conference. If everyone registers late and/or just shows up at the door, it makes planning for a conference much more difficult to coordinate and budget. So the earlier everyone registers, the better conference experience we can provide.

What’s the dress code for this conference?

If you are attending the temple on Thursday night, it’s Sunday attire. On Friday at the dinner and dance at the Old World Village (German Village), it’s nice causal. Saturday during the workshops, it's casual, no Sunday dress needed. At the afternoon Beach Party in Huntington State Beach, it’s modest beach attire. Other Saturday afternoon activities, it's usually casual or athletic wear.. Saturday Night event with catered dinner, concert festival at Bolsa Chica State Beach on the sand, you can wear casual jeans or shorts. And of course, on Sunday, it’s Sunday attire. For any outdoor event especially Saturday Night , it can still get a little chilly in May, so bring a light jacket, sweater, etc just in case.

How do I register?

The best way to register is online by going to the registration page.
